Frequently Asked Questions

Career coaching is a personalized, goal-focused process where a coach helps individuals develop their careers, improve leadership skills, navigate job transitions, and achieve career goals. It’s a collaborative approach designed to offer guidance, support, and tools for growth.

Every person is different and it depends on your goals. Some people will work with me for a few sessions to work through a particular problem, develop specific interviewing, or job search skills. Career transition clients often work with me between 2-6 months. I provide an overview of a personalized career plan in our first few sessions so you know what to expect when working with me.

Career coaching is ideal for individuals who:

>Want to develop specific skills such as communication, emotional intelligence, or strategic thinking.

>Are leaders or executives looking to enhance their leadership abilities.

>Want to make a career transition or advancement.

>Feel stuck in their current role and seek clarity on their career path.

>Struggle with confidence, performance, neurodivergence, communication/interpersonal relationships with others at work, leadership, or work-life balance.

Sessions often involve discussing goals, exploring challenges, developing solutions, and creating action plans. I use assessments, tools, or frameworks to help clarify thinking, enhance leadership skills, or address specific issues like decision-making or confidence.

I’ve been helping people navigate careers for 15 years, have held various positions in higher education and leadership including Assistant Director of Career Services and Service Learning. Additionally, I leverage my expertise in counseling psychology to help you identify personal values, skills, and interests as it relates to your career. Coaching with me goes beyond typical career assessments and interests. When you work with me, you will have a better understanding of yourself and develop a decision making process to take action in your career with greater confidence.

No, not at this time. I don’t really believe in coaching packages because coaching is a very personal process. Coaching with one client to another never looks exactly the same, so neither should a coaching “offering”. I work session by session which we schedule as we go. Some clients choose to pick a set weekly time to meet, while others schedule as needed. Your coaching process is completely tailored to you and your needs, meeting you where you are to take you where you want to go on your timeline. If you wish to reach your goals faster, we can simply meet regularly on a twice weekly basis. It’s completely up to you and we can determine this together in your free discovery consultation call.

No, the reason for this is simple… As I mentioned before, your coaching experience is personalized to you. This means you will develop the skills to explore, research, and navigate the industry that is the most fitting to you and your career goals. I have worked with professionals across various levels (emerging leaders, independent contributors, providers, and executives) across a breadth of industries such as technology, healthcare, clothing design, corporate retail, higher education, and more. The fundamental process of development and achievement can be tailored to your industry.

I primarily work with leaders and executives, though I also have extensive experience working with young adults and emerging leaders. If you’re a leader or executive wondering how career coaching can help you, you’re in the right place.

I help leaders and executives in many ways through transformative career and executive coaching. Below are some key ways you can benefit from career coaching even if you’re an experienced leader or executive, because more than likely you still run into career challenges. Despite what you believe, you don’t have to have it all together or figured it out ALL the time, because that’s not humanly possible.

  1. Clarifying Career Goals and Vision: A coach helps executives gain clarity about their long-term career aspirations and align their actions with this vision. This could include identifying their leadership style, future career opportunities, or redefining success.
  2. Enhancing Leadership Skills: Coaches provide tools and strategies to develop core leadership competencies, such as emotional intelligence, effective communication, conflict resolution, and team-building skills. This enhances the leader’s ability to inspire and guide their teams effectively.
  3. Navigating Career Transitions: Whether an executive is changing industries, considering a promotion, or contemplating retirement, a career coach helps them navigate the complexities of career transitions. This involves refining their personal brand, preparing for new roles, and adjusting to the responsibilities that come with those changes.
  4. Building Confidence: Many executives struggle with imposter syndrome or self-doubt, even at the top levels of leadership. A coach can work with them to build confidence, reinforce their strengths, and challenge self-limiting beliefs.
  5. Managing Workplace Challenges: Leaders often face high-stakes situations like resolving team conflicts, dealing with political environments, or leading organizational change. A coach can help them develop strategies to handle these challenges effectively while maintaining a positive and productive work environment.
  6. Work-Life Balance: Career coaches help executives manage their work-life integration, teaching them how to balance professional demands with personal well-being. This includes setting boundaries, managing stress, and preventing burnout.
  7. Career Development: Coaches can assist leaders in identifying skill gaps and designing personalized development plans. They may also offer feedback on performance, guide executives in building their networks, and create opportunities for professional growth.
  8. Strategic Thinking and Decision-Making: Leaders often need to make complex decisions quickly. A coach helps sharpen strategic thinking, ensuring that decisions align with organizational goals and values.

By focusing on these areas, I empower executives to become more effective leaders, increase their influence, and achieve greater satisfaction in their careers.
